Can’t find anything good on Netflix? Try the secret menu to find movies and series

Netflix is hiding things from you. There are hundreds more TV shows and movies on the streaming service than you think. You’re not locked out of content. You just need to learn how to use Netflix’s secret menu. Only then will you be able to access everything the service has to offer and more.

The problem is, when you’re watching Netflix on your OLED TV or bingeing on your phone, you’ve only scratched the surface. Netflix doesn’t show you everything it has to offer at once. Instead, it offers personalized suggestions based on your viewing history and preferences since you started using it. Unfortunately, its algorithm can’t always be trusted to paint an accurate picture of what’s available. That’s where you come in.

You can use Netflix’s secret menu to have complete control over the type of content you devour. It all depends on a code-based system. Different digital codes on the service allow you to browse and select from thousands of niche genres and subcategories, whether you like horror or romantic comedies.

Instead of letting Netflix’s algorithm decide, take streaming into your own hands. It’s time to put an end to endless scrolling and discover a new series or movie that you’ll love.

What are Netflix codes?

Netflix codes are a set of unique numeric identifiers that can help you find specific genres or subgenres in the Netflix library on the streamer’s website (not the app).

Typically, you’re limited to the genres available through Netflix’s main menu. There’s no way to choose by specific category other than the one that was chosen for you when you logged in. Using these codes opens up an entire library of options for you to choose from that can help you better decide what to watch for the evening. It can even help you discover new shows and movies that you’ve never heard of.

By adding these codes to the end of Netflix URLs, you can jump straight to movie and TV show collections that fall under your chosen category. For example, if you’re short on time and want to queue up a shorter movie, you can check out the 90-Minute Movies category with the code 81466194. Looking for something your whole family can enjoy? The Family Movie Night collection, accessible with the code 2013975, is full of favorites that even grandma can enjoy.

There are over 36,000 codes to choose from, so don’t worry about memorizing them all or trying random sequences. Resources like Netflix-Codes.com have an extensive directory to browse, making it easy to search for what you want to watch and find the codes for it in no time.

How to access Netflix secret menu?

There is no full Netflix secret menu per se. Instead, you’ll use URLs with special codes to view certain curated collections of movies and shows.

Netflix-Codes.com offers a comprehensive list of the streaming platform’s hidden genre categories and subcategories. In total, there are about 20 top-level categories covering genres such as animation, foreign films, and classic films. Within these main genres, there are many hyper-specific subgenres designated by numerical codes.

All you need to do is find the category you want, copy the associated code and add it to the end of a Netflix URL.

What types of categories does Netflix offer?

Netflix offers a lot more than you might have discovered so far. At last count, there were over 36,000 unique categories to explore.

The full range of categories available on Netflix starts with broad core genres like Action, Comedy, and Drama, but they get more specific as you dig deeper. There are direct collections like Women-Directed Movies (code 2974953), or more specifically targeted curated lists like Supernatural Soaps (code 81238162), just in case you like your werewolves with an angsty, romantic edge.

Are you a big Swift fan? Want to learn more about another celebrity? The Pop Culture Icons category (code 81278963) includes selections like the Taylor Swift documentary Miss American or the biopic of Whitney Houston I want to dance with someone.

Maybe you’ve been told time and time again that you should really get into Korean TV and you don’t know where to start. Go to the K-Dramas for Beginners menu (code 2953105) for a selection of hit K-Drama series like Squid Game And Boys above the flowers.

Rather than relying solely on the standard categories on the homepage or Netflix’s algorithm, you can use these secret codes to identify and explore different nooks and crannies of the catalog to find hidden gems.

How to use Netflix codes to find movies and shows to watch?

If you’re not comfortable with changing Netflix URLs, you can use a browser extension to access secret menus. The Better Browse for Netflix extension for Chrome is a great choice. Here’s how to use it:

1. Go to the Chrome Web Store and search for “Better Browse for Netflix.” (Note that this extension is not available for Firefox users.)

2. Click on Add to Chrome.

3. Click on Add an extension.

4. Log in to your Netflix account in a new tab.

If the extension is installed, you will see a Browse all at the top of your Netflix home screen next to My List. Click it to scroll through subgenres or search within specific categories.

You can also use the FindFlix: Netflix Secret Category Finder browser extension for Chrome or Firefox. This add-on will create a drop-down menu with Netflix categories for your browser, which you can navigate by clicking the FF icon that will appear at the top right of your screen. There is no need to scroll through Netflix natively with this add-on, and it offers 7,500 categories listed alphabetically for your convenience.

A third method is to use the Netflix Codes website. Here’s how to do it:

1. Visit Netflix-codes.com on any PC or mobile browser.

2. Find the genre or subgenre you want to explore.

3. Tap the code next to the desired genre or subgenre.

4. If you’re using a device with the Netflix app installed, the app should open and take you directly to the genre or subgenre you’ve chosen. If you don’t have the app installed, it will open Netflix through the browser and you’ll be able to see the specific movies and series available.

5. Tap the title you want to watch and it will start playing.

Finally, if you know how to create custom URLs, you can use Netflix codes manually in your browser. Here’s how to do it:

1. Visit Netflix-codes.com on any PC or mobile browser.

2. Find the genre or subgenre you want to explore.

3. In another tab, type http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/INSERTNUMBER, but replace INSERTNUMBER with the code for the specific genre or subgenre. For example, http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/81466194 will take you to “90-Minute Movies.”

4. If done correctly, you will be redirected to Netflix to browse the titles available in that section.

Simply repeat this process the next time you find a code for a Netflix category you want to explore. You can do this as many times as you want.
