If you’re planning on buying an iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max when they’re likely to launch later this year, we hope you’ve been saving up, because they’re sure to be among the most expensive phones of 2024.
Of course, no iPhone 16 pricing has been revealed yet, but based on previous models, leaks, and rumors, we can confidently say that the upcoming Pro models will be very expensive.
In fact, we can be more specific than that, so below you’ll find our predicted prices for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
iPhone 16 Pro Price Predictions

For starters, it’s worth looking at how much the iPhone 15 Pro costs, as that’s likely the minimum price Apple will charge for the iPhone 16 Pro.
The iPhone 15 Pro then starts at $999 / £999 / AU$1,849, but you can see the full price of each configuration in the table below.

iPhone 15 Pro Price
Storage Price in the United States UK Prices AU Price
128 GB $999 £999 1,849 AUD
256 GB $1,099 £1,099 2,049 AU$
512 GB $1,299 £1,299 AU$2,399
1 TB $1,499 £1,499 AU$2,749
Will the iPhone 16 Pro reflect this evolution? It’s entirely possible, but this phone could cost even more than the current model.
After all, leaks suggest that there are plenty of improvements to come when it comes to the iPhone 16 Pro’s specs. It could get a bigger display, for example, as well as a new A18 Pro chipset and new lenses for its ultra-wide and telephoto cameras.

In fact, we’ve specifically heard that the iPhone 16 Pro’s camera lenses might cost more to make than the iPhone 15 Pro’s, so all of this suggests that the price might go up instead.
That said, production costs have also increased with the iPhone 15 lineup, but Apple has kept prices similar to the iPhone 14 series (with some slight variations depending on the region). So one could argue that Apple could repeat this and keep the same prices, but we would be more inclined to say that a price increase is long overdue.
So there’s almost no way the iPhone 16 Pro will cost less than $999 / £999 / AU$1,849, and while it could be around that price, we wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was a little more expensive – perhaps starting at around $1,099 / £1,099 / AU$1,999.

For the most part, the same leaks and predictions apply to the iPhone 16 Pro Max price as the iPhone 16 Pro price, but let’s start with the retail price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
That phone starts at $1,199.99 / £1,199 / AU$2,199, so that could be considered the likely minimum you’ll pay for the iPhone 16 Pro Max – you can see the full price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max in the table below.

iPhone 15 Pro Max Price
Storage Price in the United States UK Prices AU Price
256 GB $1,199.99 £1,199 2,199 AUD
512 GB $1,399.99 £1,399 AU$2,549
1 TB $1,599.99 £1,599 2,899 AUD
But as with the iPhone 16 Pro, we think there’s a good chance the next phone will be more expensive than the current model.
And it’s for the same reasons as with the iPhone 16 Pro, namely that with the increase in production costs, a price increase is likely from Apple’s perspective, and the costs involved in building the iPhone 16 Pro Max could increase even more than those of the iPhone 16 Pro.
This phone is rumored to feature a massive 6.9-inch display, as well as the same A18 Pro chipset as its smaller sibling. It will also reportedly have upgraded cameras, including possibly a new “super telephoto” sensor, which could be extremely expensive. Either way, like the iPhone 16 Pro, the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s cameras are rumored to feature a new, more expensive type of lens.
Some leaks have also hinted at an iPhone Ultra, which could be another device, but could also be another name for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. And whether it launches with Ultra in its name or not, the fact that such a name change is being talked about suggests that it could be a huge upgrade. And with huge upgrades comes huge prices.
That said, we doubt Apple will raise its prices too much, especially if the phone continues to carry the Pro Max branding, so we estimate the starting price could reach around $1,199 / £1,199 / AU$2,199.
We should know the exact price soon, as the iPhone 16 release date is expected to be in September.
