The First Descendant’s next major content update is now coming even sooner, and we’ve gotten our first look at the new Descendants

What do you want to know?

The First Descendant continues to aggressively deliver weekly updates, and the first one, featuring major content additions, is arriving even sooner than expected.

Nexon has announced that Update 5 will now arrive a day earlier, on July 31, 2024, giving players early access to the new features.

This includes two new Descendants, new Ultimate class gear, Descendant and gear buffs, and even a new interception battle against the Gluttony Colossi boss.

Nexon also gave players a first look at the new Descendants, Ultimate Valby and Luna (in an optional premium outfit).

Nexon isn’t even trying to stop “The Thirst Descendant” from becoming the new official title for The First Descendant now that we’ve gotten our first look at Ultimate Valby and one of Luna’s premium outfits, but I’m getting ahead of myself here. Players of the hit free-to-play MMORPG have been eagerly awaiting the first major content update after weeks of quick fixes, and now the wait is even shorter.

Nexon’s First Descendant team has announced that Update 5, which includes a ton of new features and improvements, is now arriving on Xbox, Windows PC, and PlayStation every day. earlier. Instead of August 1st, players will be able to access the new content on July 31st, 2024. It’s rare to see developers release games or updates earlier, so this was a nice surprise. Oh, and Nexon gave us a first look at some of the new content. Let’s dive in.

📢Big news: Week 5 update is coming to Albion a day early. Get ready to dive into the crystal clear waves with Ult Valby on 7/31! 🌊✨ pic.twitter.com/chXjRybAsuJuly 26, 2024

To kick things off, Nexon gave us a first look at Valby Ultimate, one of two new Descendants coming in Update 5. Valby has quickly become one of the most popular Descendants thanks to her versatile area-of-effect abilities and farming utility, and her Ultimate variant will have improved defensive stats and exclusive Transcendent modules for players to discover. She’s also getting a new look, which is… a bit more revealing than Valby’s (already skin-tight) regular costume.

Players will likely be able to purchase Ultimate Valby with real money, but should also be able to obtain it entirely in-game (albeit with a lot of work and patience). We don’t know how much stronger Ultimate Valby will be than its standard variant, but we don’t know how much stronger it will be than its standard variant. TO DO Please note that Valby is one of three Descendants that will be getting a buff with Update 5. Area Specialists Freyna, Blair, and Valby are all becoming more powerful and effective at taking on groups of Vulgus in the upcoming release.

Speaking of buffs, Nexon is also improving the power of several ultimate weapons with improved critical rate and damage or unique abilities. Hopefully, these buffs won’t come with all the controversial miscommunications from previous updates.

Check out Luna in her stunning new swimsuit 🎶 Stay tuned for the next update! pic.twitter.com/PwDIHb7Vf2July 26, 2024

Next up, we have Luna. Bad translation aside, this gives us a bit more information about Luna as a Descendant and reveals one of her premium cosmetic outfits. Yes, it’s a bikini. Yes, The Thirst Descendant is real. We already know a bit about Luna and how she plays, though. Luna is a support-type Descendant, able to buff her allies with musical abilities. She’ll also have options to become more offensive, though we’ll have to wait for players to experiment to see what kind of builds we’ll be able to use.

Luna played a role in The First Descendant’s main campaign, so players weren’t too surprised to see her appear as the first new Playable Descendant. Sound-based abilities always have the potential to be incredibly fun, so I’m really interested to see how viable Luna is when she arrives with Update 5.

Along with the two new Descendants and their respective Unique Modules, Update 5 also brings the Peace Mediator, a new Hand Cannon Unique Weapon, and Arche Concretion, a new Unique Module perfect for support-type Descendants who don’t mind trading some attack power for superior defense and support capabilities.

Nexon is also adding the first new Colossus to the game, Gluttony. This interception battle will require players to carefully manage the Colossus’ greed and endless hunger while persevering against its brutal cooling systems. By defeating Gluttony, players will be able to earn new ultimate weapons and components.

The First Descendant update 5 will also include unspecified quality of life improvements and other changes, so I’m curious to see what that entails. Of course, a bunch of new cosmetics will also be coming in this update, including ones that “players have been waiting for,” which may refer to cosmetics that were shown off during The First Descendant beta but aren’t currently available in the game.

Either way, Update 5 will roll out to all The First Descendant players on July 31, 2024, on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5.
