Apple will unveil its largest iPhone ever in September, if rumors of the iPhone 16 prove true. And there have been plenty of leaks about all four devices in the iPhone 16 series, to the point where we already know most of what’s coming to the 2024 lineup.
Here’s what to expect: bigger screens, better cameras, extra buttons, and more.
iPhone 16 Rumors and Leaks
The iPhone 16 series is set to launch in less than two months, and despite Apple’s best efforts to keep the specs under wraps, it hasn’t been a success. This is good news for anyone shopping for a new phone. Knowing what’s coming this fall will allow people to decide now whether to wait or go ahead and buy a model that’s already on the market.

iPhone 16 Rumors
If the rumors are correct, the iPhone 16 series will look a lot like this.

The big change will be the iPhone 16 Pro Max with a 6.9-inch display, up from 6.7 inches in the current version. And the Pro version will reportedly go from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches. Expect the devices to be larger, but with thinner screen bezels.
Many people want the biggest iPhone possible for watching videos, playing games, and more. And the upcoming Pro Max is said to feature the largest iPhone screen Apple has to offer… at least until the iPhone Fold arrives in 2026.
Rumors indicate that the other two models coming in 2024 will retain the same screen sizes as the iPhone 15 series. That would mean a 6.7-inch Plus version and a 6.1-inch base model.
iPhone 16 Cameras
iPhone cameras are essential components for many users. Last fall, the iPhone 15 Pro Max became the first to feature a 5x tetraprism camera. And rumors say that both iPhone 16 Pro models will get the premium feature this year. While the more affordable Plus and Standard models won’t get a camera upgrade, leaks show that the cameras have been arranged vertically, not offset like they are in the 2023 versions.
Action button
There are several rumors that the number of buttons on this year’s iPhones will increase. The Action button that debuted on the two 2023 Pro models is said to be extended to the next four models, replacing the Mute button. And a new capacitive Capture button on the right edge of each model is said to make it easier to take photos and videos.
As for colors, rumors say that the iPhone 16 Pro models could come in a new pink titanium as well as natural titanium, black titanium, and white titanium. The two most basic models could arrive in black, green, pink, blue, and white, but not yellow.
iPhone 16 processor
We expect all iPhone 16 models to use A18 processors manufactured using TSMC’s N3E process, a cheaper and more powerful version of its 3nm technology. It’s possible that the Pro and Pro Max versions will feature an upgraded version of the chip. All four will likely come with 8GB of RAM. And they should continue to offer the current storage options, from 128GB to 1TB, depending on the model.
The CPU and RAM upgrades are clearly aimed at ensuring optimal performance when running Apple Intelligence, the company’s upcoming (primarily) AI features on the device.
iPhone 16 Battery
Additionally, the latest iPhone 16 rumors suggest that the 2024 models will get faster charging and better batteries. And a new battery design could mean easier repairability. The new battery would be encased in a metal casing. And that would be held in place with a special glue that peels off when a small current is applied. Batteries inevitably degrade, and the new design should make the iPhone 16’s battery easier to replace.
We are less than 2 months away
Apple traditionally unveils its new flagship iPhones in September of each year. At this point, there’s no reason to think 2024 will be any different. And that means the iPhone 16 series could launch in six to eight weeks. Given that very few current iOS phones can handle Apple Intelligence, analysts are predicting unusually strong demand for the new models.
So far, there have been no rumors of a price hike for the upcoming iPhone 16 models. If prices remain stable, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will start at $1,199, the iPhone 16 Pro at $999, the Plus at $899, and the standard iPhone 16 model at $799.
