Soulframe Reappears With Narrative Gameplay, Expected to Be Available to More Players This Fall – IGN

Warframe developer Digital Extremes has revealed more gameplay for its upcoming fantasy MMO, Soulframe.

The studio revealed its next project during an inaugural development stream as part of TennoCon 2024. It’s a closer look at some of the game’s early moments, revealing customization features, new magic abilities, and combat. The footage also gives us a longer look at players’ wolf-like mount and the Nightfold hub, where you can relax, customize your arsenal, and talk to NPCs, all with the press of a button. It shares some similarities with Warframe’s Orbiter ship, and in case you were wondering, yes, you can pet your mount here.

It all begins with a look at Warsong’s prologue, which highlights the customization options for hair, skin tone, their mother’s eyes, and more at the beginning of Soulframe. It reveals a taste of not only the new features, but also how themes of ancestry have been woven throughout the experience. This fully narrated intro sequence is then interrupted by a time jump that launches us into the future, revealing what will ultimately become each player’s Envoy character.

We got an even better look at the importance of visuals in Soulframe thanks to the introduction of a new NPC: Verminia, the rat witch. Digital Extremes says this character can “enhance cosmetic customization” while also aiding in the brewing of potions, elixirs, and more. While the Envoy’s abilities allow him to throw his weapons at enemies and turn invisible for stealthy approaches, Soulframe players will need more than brute force to take down large enemies like Nimrod. This hulking behemoth uses lightning abilities for ranged combat while using a staff for close-quarters combat, and it looks like we’ll be fighting them more than once.

“The community we have formed around Soulframe has been truly inspiring to the team and they are the backbone of everything we do.

“The community we have formed around Soul Frame “This has been a true inspiration to the team and they are the backbone of everything we do,” Soulframe Community Manager Sarah Asselin said in a statement. “We’re welcoming more new players than ever before and we look forward to sharing our progress via regular Devstreams with the team as we continue to refine our offering.” Soul frame “Layers of intrigue.”

Soulframe’s gameplay should whet the appetite of Warframe veterans and those who’ve never touched a Digital Extremes game, but there’s still a long way to go before its official launch. However, during today’s TennoCon presentation, Digital Extremes promised to get its fantasy MMO into the hands of more players this fall. As long as the plan remains unchanged, the studio says that anyone who wants to play Soulframe Preludes will be able to do so upon signing up.

“The closed testing we’ve been doing with our community has been incredibly impactful. We’ve learned a ton, and we continue to listen and learn every day,” Soulframe creative director Geoff Crookes said in a statement. “We hope to open this project up to many more players this fall. It’s all still a bit rough, but that’s just part of our style: feedback is important to us and we work on it regularly.”

We learned more about Soulframe during our interview with Digital Extremes CEO Steve Sinclair, Crookes, and Asselin. During our discussion, we got insight into how the studio maintains its community-driven approach to development, weapon variety, potential Warframe connections, and more. Keep an eye out for the full interview early next week.

Soulframe will launch first on PC, then on consoles at an unspecified later date. Another development stream is planned for September.
