Several services, including financial institutions, flights, media, retail, rail services and emergency response networks, were disrupted by a major outage on Friday (July 19) morning.

An update from CrowdStrike (an American cybersecurity company) has stuck Windows PCs and servers in a reboot loop, displaying the Blue Screen of Death for many businesses around the world. Microsoft has acknowledged the ongoing disruption and expected a quick fix; however, it is up to CrowdStrike to fully resolve the issue.

CrowdStrike President and CEO George Kurtz posted on X, stating that CrowdStrike was working with customers affected by the outage and apologized for the disruption.

“We understand the seriousness of the situation and are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and disruption caused. We are working with all affected customers to ensure that systems are back up and running and can provide the services their customers rely on,” Kurtz said.

Google turned heads on Thursday (July 18) by revealing not one but two of its upcoming flagship phones. First up, Google dropped a quick X teaser, giving us a look at the Pixel 9 Pro in a champagne gold color. The device looks glossy, with rounded edges and a matte finish on its back panel. The tweet said the phone is “built for the Gemini era,” emphasizing the fact that its new device will be AI-enhanced.

A few hours after showing us what the Pro looks like, Google has released a new video of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, putting an end to all the rumors and confirming the design and name of its upcoming foldable Android smartphone. The company showed off the phone’s external display and its hinge mechanism when the phone is opened, and the rear camera module is housed in a unique rounded rectangular housing.

The teaser doesn’t show the punch-hole front camera in the top-right corner, which left everyone speculating about the location of the phone’s selfie camera. The Pixel Pro Fold comes in a sleek porcelain finish, which could come in multiple colorways.

We hope to see some surprise new features before the Made by Google event on August 13 at 1 p.m. ET.

Learn more about the Block 2, Watch 2RAnd Nord Buds 3 Pro.

OnePlus unveiled three new products earlier this week: the OnePlus Pad 2, Watch 2R, and Nord Buds 3 Pro in the US and Canadian markets.

The OnePlus Pad 2 features an 8th Gen 3 Snapdragon platform, a large 12.1-inch exclusive 3K display, and six stereo speakers. The device is equipped with AI Toolbox, which helps users accelerate their workflows. The device comes with a large 9,510mAh battery and flash charge technology that charges the device in 81 minutes. The sleek 6.49mm, 584g pad features an all-metal Nimbus Gray body. It comes with complementary accessories like the OnePlus Stylo 2 and the OnePlus Pad 2 Smart Keyboard.

Moving on to the Watch 2R, which features an “ergonomic” design with two physical buttons on the side of its dial, similar to the Watch 2. One button is for quickly navigating to the user’s stored watch apps, while the other is an “action” button for fitness tracking. The two-tone design theme, along with its bezels, gives the device a classic wristwatch appeal. With a 500mAh battery, the wearable is claimed to offer up to 100 hours of charge with regular use and comes with a 7.5W VOOC fast charger, which fully charges the device in 60 minutes. The watch retails for $229 and is available in Forest Green and Gunmetal Gray colorways.

Finally, the company also launched the Nord Buds 3 Pro, which feature studio-quality audio with powerful bass and BassWave 2.0 technology. OnePlus said that the earbuds “feature scenario-based intelligent noise cancellation, which intelligently detects ambient sounds and selects the most appropriate noise reduction mode in real time to balance noise cancellation effectiveness and convenience.” These affordable earbuds feature three microphones that promise clear and stable audio during voice/video calls. The new earbuds come in a vertical pebble-shaped case, which sports a matte finish with some metallic accents. They are available in two colorways: Starry Black and Soft Jade.

Amazon’s massive Prime Day sale is officially over, and the company is saying it hosted a “record-breaking event.” While Amazon hasn’t released exact numbers yet, its official blog states that it sold more items during the two-day event than any previous Prime Day event.

Amazon said in its Prime Day recap that members took advantage of deals from brands like Sol de Janeiro, Apple, Dyson and Ring, as well as small businesses like TruSkin, ALOHA, Blueland and Native Pet.

We got a sneak peek at the sales numbers, as Reuters reported that shoppers in the US spent $14.2 billion online during the two-day Amazon Prime Day event. The data comes from Adobe Analytics, which said total online sales increased 11.7% this year from $12.7 billion in 2023 over the two days.

The publication adds that major retailers including Walmart and Target appear to have launched their own deals in the lead-up to Prime Day, which may have contributed to this year’s sales. People looking to upgrade their devices and get new tech for their homes helped push online sales in the electronics category up 61%, Adobe Analytics added.

With Samsung’s One UI 7 update still a few months away, tipsters have started predicting what it could mean for the devices.

Ice Universe on X has said that One UI 7 (based on Android 15) will be the “most modified” version of the software for Samsung Galaxy devices. The tipster went on to claim that the company wants to “redesign” the app icons that users encounter when they swipe the screen.

It also seems like the company is planning to change the icon style and the drop-down menu, which could potentially give the UI a new look. On the other hand, TheOneCID suggests that Samsung could be taking inspiration from a few design cues from iOS 18, some of which seem to point to a completely revamped Control Center, similar to what Ice Universe claimed on Weibo.

Back in May, reports suggested that Samsung had started internal testing of its Android 15 build on the Galaxy S24. However, it seems that the One UI 7 launch could be delayed as the company was still in the process of patching the One UI 6.1.1 update.
